MANGKU
Founder & Teacher

Prajapati Yoga's owner and teacher is a Balinese priest, Mangku. Here’s a short background story about our teacher so we get to know him a little better:

He was a successful artist and businessman, selling countless paintings at exhibitions across Jakarta and owning several businesses in Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Batam, and Bali, until he went bankrupt in 2010. During the lowest point of his life, he was wandering aimlessly in a forest in Bali when he met his spiritual teacher. The teacher would appear to him once a day to impart meditation and yoga techniques, disappearing once Mangku finished meditating. Inspired by this mystical experience, he began teaching the meditation and healing techniques he had learned. Since then, he has had many students from countries such as the UK, Canada, Ukraine, and Russia. He speaks simple, communicative English, making his teachings accessible to a diverse range of students from around the world.

One of the best aspects of Mangku is that he doesn’t set a fixed rate for those who wish to learn from him, with the exception of our spiritual tour programs. In other words, our yoga/meditation classes operate on a donation basis. You are encouraged to contribute whatever amount you feel comfortable with or can afford, either before or after the session.

Fun fact: Mangku is a title used in Balinese culture. It refers to a priest or a spiritual leader within the Balinese Hindu community. A Mangku is responsible for performing rituals, ceremonies, and prayers at temples and is regarded with great respect for their spiritual knowledge and role in maintaining religious customs and traditions.
